They have to bump up their athletic ratings to bump up their OVRs so they get the contracts and the minutes. It's why athletic skills are out of whack for 3 and D types like Korver. It's why role players on legends teams like Steve Kerr have ridiculous OVRs. If OVR is king, ratings need to be manipulated. AND is a marketing gimmick, then it will be king. FA logic, trade logic, contract negotiations, and most of all PR hype.
